Top Ten Signs Your Friends Might Be Dating Secretly

Hey, this is a hobby of mine so I thought I would just start posting things like this. Tell me what you think...you've probably all have been in a situation like this before so these are ways I have noticed in many different occasions that signal a secret relationship (and I've been right 3/4 times!)

10. Unaccounted for behavior change: Flirtatious people stop flirting so much. Shy around each other (fear of being caught). Avoid each other (rarely, but some times at the beginning), other specific signs that give you a gut feeling...

9. Subtle, but not really subtle, alone time: Friends do have heart to hearts with each other. But the difference is the frequency of “alone times” that occur. If they happen everyday in little intervals or at least 4 times a week in long intervals, they may be dating.

8. Promises: Friends promise each other things but when promises are attached to inside jokes, are directing attention to the two parties and is something that seems out of character of the promise giving party, it’s safe to say they at least like each other.

7. Body language: The best way of telling, I find is they stand pretty close to each other often but the don’t touch. This is a good indicator of seeing that they don’t want to be caught. When they don’t shift eyes very often, you’d have to be an idiot not to notice a connection. Softened smiles around each other. Excited to see each other...they like each other

6. The “Left Out” Vibe: When your walking with two people and you feel as if you shouldn’t be there, like your intruding. If you feel super uncomfortable than that’s a great sign. Always trust your instincts.

5. Evidence of a physical encounter: Hickey, missing clothing from what was apparent before, smudged make-up, flushed cheeks, ruffled hair, etc. This is observed after parties have been alone for at least 2 minutes but no longer than 4 hours, it’s most likely evidence of a physical encounter. Also one of the parties telling you...that’s a sign too!

4. Start hanging out a lot more than normal suddenly: Go get food together (plan to especially), one party participates in activities with people they don’t normally mix with, seeing them come and go together. Sit together a lot more than usual. Wanting to be together is a side affect of a relationship.

3. Slip ups: Wondering where they are, caring a little too much, asking about your relationship (if your in one), asking about what you think of the other party, defending the other party strongly, talking about how much you enjoy the other party, etc. You see this a lot in romantic comedies, for a reason!

2.The “Goodbye” hug: Most people that like each other hug for a slightly longer period of time than a regular friendly hug and the girl (or the shorter parties) will tend to rest her head sideways on the guys chest. Arms will be symmetrical around each others waists. They will usually hug every time they part. If none of this matches, they are probably not dating. If even one of these matches, however, it’s a really good chance they are. (exception: if one of the parties is visible upset and needs a good hug, that’s different)

1. Catching them “in the act”: What else did you expect would be number one? This is definitely and yes or no thing and you will know when this happens. People that really like each other won’t be able to hide it for long (see numbers 2, 5, 7, and 8). This is a definite yes act like making out without aid of alcohol or drugs, holding hands when they think they can’t be seen, standing super ridiculously close, seeing one of the parties exit the other’s house (if they weren’t super good friends before the crush)...etc. It should be something where there is no other explanation.
